Ours Services - eAA Zimbabwe

Welcome to EAA Zimbabwe, the administrative branch of EAA dedicated to supporting and facilitating vehicle conformity services in Zimbabwe. While the actual pre-inspection, testing and certification work is carried out at origin (e.g. Japan, Tanzania, South Africa, Europe or other source countries), EAA Zimbabwe ensures seamless processing and compliance for vehicles destined for Zimbabwe, including special services for government and civil servant imports. SI 132 of 2015 introduced the CBCA program in Zimbabwe , making pre-shipment inspection compulsory for used vehicles entering Zimbabwe. In 2022 the government mandated EAA Automobile Company International to provide mandatory pre-shipping vehicle inspection. Then in August 2025 the Government through the Ministry of Industry and Commerce renewed the contract.

Why EAA Zimbabwe Exists

  • Local administration & liaison
We act as your local point of contact in Zimbabwe, coordinating with EAA’s inspection offices abroad and with Zimbabwean regulatory authorities.

  • Certificate of Conformity Extensions
EAA Zimbabwe handles extension requests for Certificate of Conformity (CoC) specifically for government and civil servant rebate imports, ensuring those vehicles retain regulatory compliance.

  • Compliance with Zimbabwe import regulation
As of 1 June 2022, all used vehicle imports into Zimbabwe are required to have an EAA Certificate of Conformity (unless shipped before the cutoff) to comply with Zimbabwe’s import rules.
We make sure that your documentation, applications, and local regulatory requirements are correctly handled.

Why Pre-Shipping?

 Inspection is Necessary!
Pre-shipping inspection is a critical safeguard for Zimbabwe. It ensures that every imported vehicle meets safety, quality, and environmental standards before leaving the source country. This process protects consumers from hidden dangers such as tampered odometers, accident damage, or poor mechanical condition. Just as importantly, it prevents radiation-contaminated vehicles—especially from regions affected by nuclear accidents or industrial contamination—from entering Zimbabwe, thereby protecting public health and the environment. Pre-shipping also filters out high-emission vehicles, reduces costly delays at ports, and guarantees compliance with government regulations. In essence, it gives buyers confidence, helps importers avoid risks, and keeps Zimbabwe’s roads and communities safe.

How the Process Typically Works!

Pre-inspection & testing at origin
EAA’s facilities in source countries (e.g. Japan, South Africa, Tanzania) will perform roadworthiness, emissions, odometer, radiation, structural verification, and generate the initial Certificate of Conformity. (This aligns with services offered by EAA Japan.)

Submission to EAA Zimbabwe
You (or your agent) send us the inspection reports, vehicle documentation, and relevant forms. If you are a government or civil servant import, you also include rebate-related credentials.

Review & processing
We validate all documents, check compliance with Zimbabwe’s regulatory standards, arrange any required translations or verifications, and liaise with Zimbabwean authorities on your behalf.

Issuance or extension of CoC
If all is in order, we issue (or extend) the local Certificate of Conformity needed for import clearance.

Import & clearance

Zimbabwe’s Import Rules & Eligibility

To help you plan better, here are some key points regarding Zimbabwe’s current used vehicle import regime:

Mandatory EAA CoC
As of June 2022, used vehicles entering Zimbabwe must have an EAA Certificate of Conformity (unless they were shipped before the implementation date).

Age limits
For cars, motorcycles, and light commercial vehicles (< 5 tonnes), vehicles must be within 10 years from date of manufacture. For heavy commercial vehicles (5 tonnes or more), there is no age limit.

Right-hand drive requirement
Vehicles must be right-hand drive.

Mileage / odometer integrity
Vehicles with tampered odometers are not acceptable.

Inspection & fees
Importers must pay inspection fees (e.g. USD 140 or equivalent) and ensure all tests meet Zimbabwe’s national and international standards.
